Dave Savitsky
Position: Alto and tenor saxophonist
Age 34 years old
Presently residing in Bethel, CT
Grew up in Huntington and Redding, CT. Began playing alto saxophone at Age 7.

I remember my Dad would play 'Steely Dan' on the stereo. The chorus to
'Deacon Blues' was somewhat inspiring:
Learned to work the saxophone I play just what I feel Drink scotch
whiskey all night long And die behind the wheel...

Education: Berklee College of Music  & The Hartt School of Music.

Although jazz is a primary musical pursuit, I love playing funk, rock
and even classical.

As far as gear is concerned, I play a silver '66 Mark VI (the number of
the beast). My tenor is an old Martin copy, also silver, that was
purchased from a former student of mine; by far the best $400 I ever spent.

Various musical influences include John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Jackie
McLean, Lee Morgan, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Eric
Dolphy, Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Mahavishnu Orchestra,
Frank Zappa (to name but just a few).

Future plans: continue to stay busy teaching and playing
and maybe eventually write and record an album of my own material.
